LGBTI: International day of transgender remembrance

That the Senate—
(a)
notes that:
(i)
Thursday, 20 November 2008, marks the 10th International Transgender Day of Remembrance, and
(ii)
this day of action was established as a reminder of those who have been killed as a result of anti-gendered hatred or prejudice; and
(b)
recognises the work of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission in their consultation with the sex and gender diverse community in how they can assist in promoting and protecting the human rights of people who are transgender, transsexual or intersex.
