Media Release
Sarah Hanson-Young 23 Mar 2013

The Greens have announced Ruth Beach as the party’s candidate for the seat of Adelaide in the upcoming Federal Election.

Speaking at the Prospect Fair this weekend, South Australian Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said Ms Beach would be a passionate advocate for the people of her home city.

“Ruth will be a strong voice for Adelaide,” Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said.

“After years of service as an environmental lawyer, Ruth knows what it takes to stand up for what she believes in.

“The Greens are the only party that genuinely cares for all Australians, whether they are single mothers, members of the LGBTI community, the elderly or vulnerable casual employees.”

Ruth is looking forward to working hard for the people of Adelaide in the upcoming election and beyond.

“I’m running for the seat of Adelaide because I believe the city can be a modern, environmentally sustainable hub of the future,” Ms Beach said.

“I am a proud South Australian, having lived in Adelaide for nearly 20 years, and as a keen bike rider I care about improving Adelaide’s transport system and environmental credentials.

“As a mother with a demanding job and mortgage concerns I know the pressure that families are under and I will be a passionate advocate for the thousands of working parents in Adelaide.

“The people of Adelaide care about education, transport and finding affordable flexible childcare and, if elected, I will be a strong voice for the city.”
