Support for Holden must guarantee SA jobs

Media Release
Sarah Hanson-Young 5 Aug 2013

The government must be clear about exactly what it will do to support Holden, and all of the workers in South Australia who rely on the industry for their livelihoods, the Australian Greens have said today.

“The government needs to come clean and let all South Australians know exactly what it will do to support Holden and local jobs before the election, not after,” South Australian Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said.

“South Australia needs certainty, but this government is refusing to outline exactly what it will do as it rushes to the polls.

“Government handouts of tax payer money need to come with strict guarantees for local jobs and commitments to creating the clean, green, electric cars of the future.

“Adelaide could become the electric car capital of Australia, thereby guaranteeing the future of the industry in this state.

“The Greens are standing up for South Australia and want to see the government supporting the state in a smart, sustainable way now and long into the future.”
