Revised Murray Darling plan fails the river and ignores top scientists' advice

After 20 weeks of consultations and assurances it was listening to the community's views, the Murray Darling Basin Authority's revised draft plan is still flawed and still fails the river system, the Australian Greens said today.

"Australians who believed the Murray Darling Basin Authority were supposed to be coming up with a strategy to correct the over-allocation of water and return the river to health for the long-term will be extremely disappointed," Greens' water & Murray Darling Basin spokesperson, Sen. Greens urge govt stop destroying families and change ASIO Act

The Australian Greens have today urged the federal government to change the ASIO Act after revelations another family has been torn apart and faces indefinite detention even though they have been granted refugee protection.

"The Greens were deeply upset by last night's Lateline story on a young Sri Lankan woman and her two sons who have been removed from Melbourne to Villawood detention centre," Greens' immigration spokesperson, Sen. Sarah Hanson-Young, said.
