The Greens support the AFL in saying ‘No To Homophobia’

South Australian Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young will be at the AFL preliminary final between the  Crows and Hawthorn in Melbourne today, where a commercial created by the group ‘No To Homophobia’ will be shown.


“I’ll be cheering on the Crows and the new anti-homophobia campaign,” Greens spokesperson for Human Rights Sarah Hanson-Young says.

Factions rule on marriage equality

A bill for marriage equality, which is supported by the majority of Australians, was voted down in the House of Representatives today.

“Despite the overwhelming community support for marriage equality Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott continue to stand in the way of reform,” Greens human rights spokesperson Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said today.

“The majority of Australians support marriage equality, but today’s ‘no’ vote in the lower house has shown that the Australian parliament is failing the Australian people.

Historic day for marriage equality as Tasmania gets the ball rolling: Greens

The Australian Greens announced today that they will start debate on Senator Sarah Hanson-Young's marriage equality bill in the Senate this Thursday.

Australians want marriage equality, it's time for Gillard and Abbott to listen

A new Galaxy poll, commissioned by Australian Marriage Equality, has revealed that support for marriage quality in Australia is at its highest level ever, indicating that the time has come for marriage equality, the Greens said today.

"The time for Marriage Equality has come and the majority of Australians want our Parliament to move on it," Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young said today.

"The new poll released today shows that more people than ever support changing our laws to allow same-sex couples the right to marry.
